Fourteen new ambulances are being added to the operational fleet of the Rio de Janeiro State Military Fire Department (CBMERJ), as the agency works to strengthen pre-hospital care and improve emergency response across the state.
The vehicles will support CBMERJ units in multiple regions of Rio de Janeiro, increasing the department’s capacity to provide rapid assistance and transport for people involved in emergency incidents.
Ten of the ambulances are part of a batch of 60 vehicles acquired by the State Government as part of a wider program to modernize CBMERJ’s operational structure. A further four ambulances were secured through a parliamentary amendment.
The new ambulances will be allocated to units in Barra da Tijuca, Copacabana, downtown Rio, Santa Cruz, Catete, Três Rios, Bonsucesso in Teresópolis, Armação de Búzios, Maricá, Rio das Ostras, Itaocara, Santo Antônio de Pádua, Nilópolis and Belford Roxo.
According to the department, the expansion is designed to renew the fleet, improve working conditions for military firefighter teams and deliver faster assistance to the public.
