Canadian avionics manufacturer Anodyne Electronics Manufacturing Corp. (AEM) has received a new Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from Transport Canada for its MTP136D P25 forest service radio.
The certificate, STC #SH24-21, permits the installation of the radio on all H125 (AS350) aircraft series, commonly used in aerial firefighting.
As reported by AEM Corp, this certification is expected to accelerate the integration of the MTP136D radio into operators’ fleets.
The radio has been in high demand since its release in late 2023, and this certification facilitates faster deployment, enabling aerial firefighting teams to access the latest communication technology.
The MTP136D radio was developed with the United States Forest Service (USFS) and aerial firefighting operators in focus.
It complies with Project 25 Phase 1 standards, supporting both digital and analog communication across the 136MHz to 174MHz frequency band.
The radio is designed to be easily integrated into existing tactical systems and platform upgrades, making it a straightforward replacement for legacy radios.
AEM’s latest certification ensures that the MTP136D can be rapidly deployed across North America, improving communication capabilities for those involved in firefighting efforts.
The radio is already being installed on aircraft and is expected to receive formal acceptance from the USFS soon.
AEM Corp is committed to delivering the MTP136D radios to operators as quickly as possible.
Tony Weller, AEM’s Sales and Marketing Director, stated: “This acknowledgement makes it even easier for folks on the front lines battling intense wildfires to have the most up-to-date communication equipment at their fingertips.”
The company emphasizes the importance of having advanced communication tools in aerial firefighting operations and continues to support the integration of the MTP136D in H125 (AS350) aircraft, which are widely used in the industry.
The MTP136D radio is already being shipped and installed on aircraft throughout North America.
The certification from Transport Canada is a critical step in ensuring that more operators can upgrade their fleets with this advanced communication technology.
The radio’s design allows it to be a plug-and-play replacement, which simplifies the installation process for operators.
AEM’s focus remains on ensuring that aerial firefighting teams are equipped with reliable and efficient communication tools as they combat wildfires across the continent.
