Registration has opened for the 14th annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Lambeau Field, as organizers prepare for a major 25th anniversary commemoration of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
The event, co-sponsored by the Green Bay Metro Fire Department and Pierce Manufacturing, a business of Oshkosh Corporation, is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2026. Funds raised will benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
Participants in the climb will ascend the equivalent of 110 stories at Lambeau Field, symbolically matching the height of the World Trade Center towers. Each climber carries an honor badge representing one of the 343 firefighters killed during the 9/11 attacks, with a ceremonial bell rung at the 78-story equivalent point reached by firefighters that day.
Organizers said the 2026 event is expected to draw increased participation as the 25th anniversary approaches, building on last year’s turnout of more than 2,000 participants from across the fire service community and the public.
The stair climb has grown into one of the largest memorial events of its kind in the United States, combining fundraising for firefighter family support programs with a physical tribute to those killed in the 2001 attacks.
Registration is open ahead of tiered fee deadlines, with early registration encouraged by organizers. The event will also feature an opening ceremony and community gathering at Lambeau Field on the day of the climb.
